Casey Stoner set to Retire

Share

Casey Stoner has announced that he will retire at the end of this season. He explained that he wishes to spend more time with his family and that he has lost some of the drive to race on.

On one had expected this move, there had been no rumour of this announcement unlike all of the rumours around Valentino Rossi at this time.

All we can do is wish Casey happiness in his retirement and wish him well for the remainder of the season.

What do you think of is decision?

Who will fill the spot in the Honda team?

Greatest motorcycle racer

Share

Who is the greatest motorcycle racer of all time?

At present the media states that Valentino Rossi is the most successful rider ever with over 100 grand prix wins. To me the most successful rider is the one who has won the largest number of world titles that being Giacomo Agostini with 15 titles. I don’t think you can work this on the number of grand prix wins as there are greater number of races each year now than there used to be. Continue reading

Rossi and Stoner

Share

Following the crash between Rossi and Stoner at Jerez many things have been said. Stoner came off far worse than Rossi did from the incident and was understandably very upset over walking away from the race with no points. What made it worse was that the marshals helped Rossi restart and didn’t offer the same assistance to Stoner. Well there is not much that can be done about that other than stop any assistance being given to the riders (same as endurance races), I don’t think that would go down to well. Since then further comments have been said by both parties. Continue reading

In the closing stages of the race he closed in and eventually passed his team mate Jorge Lorenzo. This relagated Jorge Lorenzo to fourth place which must have been a bitter pill to swallow. Protect your Noggin with the Perfect Motorcycle Helmet

Share

Many of us have a hobby which we like to indulge in whenever we get the time, for some it’s spending ninety minutes huddled close to others in the terraces of your favourite football team, willing them on despite the poor season they’re having and the star striker being sidelined through injury. For others it’s going for long walks through the English countryside; and then there’s those who like the adrenaline and the rush which is provided by getting on top one of the many beautiful, sleek and sexy motorcycles which are available. Unfortunately those which fall into the latter category are also those who are most at risk, especially if they don’t have adequate protective clothing, such as a well fitted motorcycle helmet. Well another year over, the last MotoGP race of 2011. Its also the last 800cc MotoGP race and Loris Capirossi’s last proffesional motorcycle race as he retires at the end of this race. Kevin Schwantz lead a lap of remembrance to Marco followed by all the riders from each GP class. MotoGP rule changes

Share

It looks like there could be more rule changes to come for MotoGP. Dorna are talking to the three remaining factories Honda, Ducati and Yamaha about possibly restricting the maximum RPM of the engine to 16,000 rpm and introducing a controlled ECU. Does this not go against the spirit of MotoGP. These machines a supposed to be prototypes and experimental machines, not road bike restricted by regulations.

Is MotoGP getting one step closer to F1. If so i will no longer be watching. The most famous machine from history were the one’s that didn’t have to comply to rules, machines like the Guzzi V8, Honda six and V4 Yamaha 125′s and 250′s. MotoGP is getting closer to World Superbikes. Or what about ProAm racing for those of you who can remember that far back.

MotoGP racing is expensive and there is no way of getting around that. Without regulation the manufacturer with the biggest bank balance wins. Will changing the rules make this any different?

For me MotoGP is about the machines, the machines you can’t see anywhere else. If they are going to be more like Superbikes why not just go to see Superbikes.
